5-[(~{E})-[Di(propan-2-yl)amino]diazenyl]-1~{H}-pyrazole-4-carbonitrile (100 mg, 454 μmol, 1.00 equiv) was dissolved in methylene chloride (8.0 mL). The solution was cooled to 0 °C and then azido(trimethyl)silane (392 mg, 452 μL, 3.40 mmol, 7.50 equiv) and 2,2,2-trifluoroacetic acid (518 mg, 348 μL, 4.54 mmol, 10.00 equiv) were added. The reaction mixture was slowly warmed to 50 °C while constantly being stirred. The reaction progress was monitored via LC-MS. After full conversion (72 h), the solvent was reduced under vacuum.
