(E)-3-(2-(3-((12-((Tert-butyldimethylsilyl)oxy)dodecyl)oxy)quinoxalin-2-yl)vinyl)quinoxaline-2-carbaldehyde (750 mg, 1.20 mmol, 1.00 equiv), ((3-methylquinoxalin-2-yl)methyl)triphenylphosphonium bromide (657 mg, 1.32 mmol, 1.10 equiv) and sodium methoxide (323 mg, 5.98 mmol, 5.00 equiv) were put under N2. Then dry methanol (6.0 mL) and dry dichloromethane (12.0 mL) were added and the reaction was heated to 50 °C for 12 h. Methylene chloride (150 mL) and distilled water (150 ml) were then added and the aqueous layer was extracted 3x with methylene chloride (150 mL each time). The organic layers were combined and dried over Na2SO4. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure.
