In a vial, 5,15-dibromo-10,20-bis(4-ethoxycarbonylphenyl)porphyrin (14.0 mg, 18.3 μmol, 1.00 equiv), 4-pyridylboronic acid (28.4 mg, 231 μmol, 12.6 equiv), tripotassium phosphate (98.6 mg, 464 μmol, 25.4 equiv) and Pd(PPh3)4 (2.98 mg, 2.58 μmol, 0.141 equiv) were put under Ar atmosphere, subsequently dissolved in 12.5 mL of dry THF and the mixture was stirred at 80°C for 21 h. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure and the residue was dissolved in CH2Cl2 (15 mL). After washing with saturated aqueous NaHCO3 solution (15 mL) and H2O (15 mL) the organic phase was dried over Na2SO4, filtered and the solvent removed under reduced pressure.
