(E)-5-(3,3-diisopropyltriaz-1-en-1-yl)-1-(4-methylbenzyl)-1H-pyrazole-4-carbonitrile (177 mg, 545 μmol, 1.00 equiv) was dissolved in dry THF under nitrogen-atmosphere. The solution was cooled to 0 °C before lithium aluminum hydride (70.2 mg, 1.85 mL, 1.85 mmol, 1.00M, 3.39 equiv) was added. The cooling was removed and the solution was stirred at 21 °C for 14 hours. The reaction was quenched with K/Na-tartrate-solution and the aqueous layer was extracted with DCM. The organic solvent was removed in vacuo and (E)-(5-(3,3-diisopropyltriaz-1-en-1-yl)-1-(4-methylbenzyl)-1H-pyrazol-4-yl)methanamine (113 mg, 345 μmol) was obtained in 63% yield.
