Selenium dioxide (55.4 mg, 499 μmol, 5.00 equiv) and dimethyl 2-methyl-3-((E)-2-(3-((E)-2-(3-(octyloxy)quinoxalin-2-yl)vinyl)-6,7-diphenylquinoxalin-2-yl)vinyl)quinoxaline-6,7-dicarboxylate (100 mg, 99.9 μmol, 1.00 equiv) were put in suspension in 1,4-dioxane (2.0 mL). The solution was stirred to 80 °C for 12 h. The solution was allowed to reach 21 °C. Methylene chloride (50 mL) and distilled water (50 mL) were then added and the aqueous layer was extracted 3x with methylene chloride (25 mL each time). The organic layers were combined and dried over Na2SO4. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure.
