(E)-3-(2-(3-(Octyloxy)quinoxalin-2-yl)vinyl)-6,7-diphenylquinoxaline-2-carbaldehyde (50.0 mg, 84.4 μmol, 1.00 equiv), ((3-methylquinoxalin-2-yl)methyl)triphenylphosphonium bromide (46.3 mg, 92.8 μmol, 1.10 equiv) and sodium methoxide (22.8 mg, 422 μmol, 5.00 equiv) were put under argon. Then dry methanol (0.5 mL) and dry dichloromethane (1.0 mL) were added and the reaction was heated to 50 °C for 12 h. Methylene chloride (50 mL) and distilled water (50 mL) were added. Then the aqueous layer was extracted 3x with methylene chloride (50 mL each time). The organic layers were combined, dried over Na2SO4 and filtered. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure.
