In a vial fitted with a magnetic stirring bar, potassium 4-trifluoroborate[2.2]paracyclophane (188.5 mg, 0.06 mmol, 1.50 equiv.), potassium phosphate (339.6 mg, 1.60 mmol, 4.00 equiv.), palladium acetate (4.5 mg, 0.02 mmol, 0.05 equiv.), RuPhos (28.0 mg, 0.06 mmol, 0.15 equiv.) and the respective bromide (78.4 mg, 0.40 mmol, 1.00 equiv.) were placed. The vial was evacuated and backfilled with argon three times. After addition of the solvent (toluene/water 10:1, 0.1 M), the mixture was put into a vial heating block and heated to 80 °C for 24 hours. The reaction was cooled to ambient temperature and quenched with sat. aq. sodium chloride. After separation of the phases, the aqueous phase was extracted with dichloromethane (3 × 15 mL). The organic phases were dried over sodium sulfate and the solvent was removed under reduced pressure.
