(E)-1-(4-bromobenzyl)-3-(3,3-diisopropyltriaz-1-en-1-yl)-1H-pyrazole (288 mg, 789 μmol, 1.00 equiv) was dissolved in methylene chloride (20 mL). The solution was cooled to 0 °C and then azido(trimethyl)silane (682 mg, 786 μL, 5.92 mmol, 7.50 equiv) and 2,2,2-trifluoroacetic acid (900 mg, 604 μL, 7.89 mmol, 10.0 equiv) were added. The reaction mixture was slowly warmed to 50 °C while constantly being stirred. The reaction progress was monitored via TLC. The reaction was finished after 16 hours stirring at 50 °C.
