A solution of the starting material 2-aminobenzaldehyde (107 mg, 884 μmol, 1.00 equiv) and N,N-diethylethanamine (102 mg, 140 μL, 1.00 mmol, 1.14 equiv) in dichloromethane (2.50 mL) was cooled to 0 °C in an ice bath, then acetyl chloride (99.4 mg, 90.0 μL, 1.27 mmol, 1.43 equiv) was added slowly. The reaction was stirred for 2 h, complete conversion was confirmed via TLC. Then, the orange solution was washed with diluted hydrochloric acid (0.5 M in H2O), a saturated aqueous solution of NaHCO3, and a saturated aqueous solution of NaCl. The solution was then dried with anhydrous Na2SO4 and the solvent was removed under reduced pressure.
