To a solution of methyl 2,2-dimethylchromene-6-carboxylate (56.6 mg, 259 μmol, 1.00 equiv) in 2.7 mL of dry THF was added lithium aluminum hydride (32.5 mg, 856 μL, 856 μmol, 1.00 M in THF, 3.30 equiv) and the mixture was refluxed (64 °C) for 2 h. After cooling down to 21 °C, 1 M NaOH solution was added. The aqueous phase was extracted with diethyl ether twice then the combined organic layers were washed with water and brine. The combined organic layers were dried over sodium sulfate and coated onto Celite.
