In a dry PTFE-flask, N-Iodosuccinimide (128 mg, 568 μmol, 2.09 equiv) was dissolved in 4 mL of dry dichloromethane and cooled to 0 °C. Pyridin-1-ium;fluoride (239 mg, 217 μL, 1.69 mmol, 6.22 equiv) was added (quickly) followed by diethyl 2-(4-(2-methyl-1,3-dithiolan-2-yl)benzyl)malonate (100 mg, 271 μmol, 1.00 equiv) as a solution in 1 mL of dry dichloromethane. The mixture was stirred at 0 °C for 5 minutes, then the ice bath was removed and the reaction was allowed to stir for another 19 h at 21 °C.
