In a three-necked round bottom flask to a stirred solution of methyl 2-hydroxy-4-(trifluoromethyl)benzoate (2.50 g, 11.36 mmol, 1.00 equiv) in DCM (10.0 mL) under inert atmosphere was added triethylamine (3.45 g, 34.07 mmol, 3.00 equiv). The reaction mixture was cooled at 0 °C and trifluoromethansulfonic anhydride (3.52 g, 12.49 mmol, 1.10 equiv) was added dropwise. The reaction mixture was stirred at 25 °C for 20 hours (TLC control). After completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture was poured into saturated solution of NH4Cl (30 mL), and extracted with DCM three times (3 × 30 mL). The combined organic layers were washed with with brine (2 * 50 mL), dried over anhydrous Na2SO4, and concentrated under reduced pressure to give the crude, which was purified by column chromatography on silica gel (eluent: hexane/ethyl acetate = 30:1) that gave triflate - methyl 4-(trifluoromethyl)-2-(((trifluoromethyl)sulfonyl)oxy)benzoate  (3.00 g, 75 %) as a colourless oil.
